Troops who are loyal to the current administration of the region have been seen patrolling the city for security purposes. People are staying in their houses to comply with the curfew.
Reports say that the reason for the curfew is related to the expected arrival of MPs and senior officials from the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of Somalia. The MPs and the senior officials from the TFG
are expected to arrive within the next few days.
MP Mohamed Dhaqane Ilmi said few days ago that some MPs and senior officials from the TFG have been assigned by the TFG to continue security operations which the late Omar Hashi Adam who was the National Security Minister of the TFG was carrying out in the region before he was assassinated in a suicide bombing last Thursday. The former Ambassador of Somalia to Ethiopia Mr. Abdikarim Farah Laqanyo was also killed in the bombing.
Al-Shabab, a hard line Islamic militia who is trying to overthrow the TFG claimed responsibility for the bombing.
