Somali Security Minister Omar Hashi Aden was killed in a suicide bombing in Beledweyne in central Somalia, said Abdulkadir Mohamed Osman, director of information in the Somali presidency.
Abdikarin Hussein Farah Laqanyo, Somalia’s former ambassador to neighboring Ethiopia, was also among the dead, Osman said in a phone interview today from the capital, Mogadishu. He didn’t provide a death toll. Agence France-Presse said at least 10 people were killed in the incident.
“We believe the attack was carried out by al-Qaeda and al- Shabaab,” he said.
