Sporadic Clashes Continue in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (HOL) - Sporadic clashes continue in the districts of Shibis and Kaaraan in Mogadishu where heavy fighting took place yesterday between government forces on side and Al-Shabaab and Hisbul Islam forces on the other side.
 
Sporadic gun shots can be heard in the area between San’a and Nasiibuundo between the opposing sides. There also sporadic guns shots in Kaaraan district.
 
Yesterday’s fighting between the warring sides was heavy and caused the death of 15 persons and wounded 40 others. The dead and wounded include civilians and members of the warring sides.
 
People who live in Shibis and Kaaraan districts whom we have contacted told us that the shelling they witnessed yesterday was the worst in the last twenty years of the civil war and that the shelling lasted for hours.
