Mogadishu, Somalia (HOL) - Former Somali President Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf arrived yesterday in Yemen with his family. There are conflicting reports about the reasons for his visit to Yemen.
Some reports say the former President is in Yemen to seek asylum while others say that he is there for a friendly visit and plans to travel to other Gulf countries and as well as to the United Kingdom.
Some Yemeni news agencies have reported that that the former President is seeking asylum quoting a source close to the former President who spoke on condition of anonymity.
There are no reports from the former President denying or confirming the reports that he is seeking asylum in Yemen.
The former President recently resigned from his position as Somalia’s interim President after the international community pressured him to do so.
