Kampala, Uganda
Police Director of Human Resource Development, Mr Richard Bisherurwa, said plans are underway to turn the Police school into an academy that will offer degrees as is the case with the Police Academies in Egypt.
Masindi Police Training School commandant, Mr Andrew Felix Kaweesi and Mr Bisherurwa visited Egyptian Police academies recently to find out how they can make the idea operational.
“We were in Egypt and we found out that people who lecture in the Police academies also teach in universities. You don’t need to go to the university to get a degree. We can develop such programme here,” Mr Bisherurwa said.
He asked Police spokespersons to be diplomatic in order to be good ambassadors of the Force .
Pass out
He made the remarks while passing out 76 police officers who had undergone a six-week training.
At least 28 public relation officers were trained in handling the media while 51 Scene of Crime officers were equipped with skills in crime scene management.
Masindi Police Training School currently trains officers from Southern Sudan, Rwanda and Somalia.
