News - Africa news .Burundi and Djibouti have signed cooperation agreements on trade, transport, building and civil engineering works and tourism, which will come into force early next year and will enable both countries intensify cooperation, PANA reported from here.

This was disclosed Monday by Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza shortly before his Djiboutian counterpart, Ismail Omar Guelleh, left after a three-day working visit to Burundi.

On regional politics, the Burundian president exchanged a number of ideas with his Djiboutian counterpart on means to collaborate after the end of the civil war in Somalia, Djibouti's neighbouring country.

"Djibouti is acting as facilitator in the inter-Somalia dialogue; Burundi sent troops for the AU peacekeeping mission in Somalia and it is on this basis we decided to collaborate in the future and at the end of the civil war ravaging the Horn of Africa country in the grip of insecurity now for 20 years," Nkurunziza said.

Guelleh had a taste of Burundi's tourist potentials when he visited, Sunday afternoon, Rumonge, a seaside station being renovated and located on the Lake Tanganyika's riverbanks.

He also visited a major palm-oil producing factory located in the same locality.

Nkurunziza paid a similar visit to Burundi in June 2008.
