Ottawa, Canada (HOL) - Mercy USA for Aid & Development held an introductory meeting at Heron Gate Community Center in Ottawa Canada on March 28 2009. A similar meeting was held in Toronto on March 20th.
The purpose of the meeting was to update the Somali-Canadian community on the excellent humanitarian work the agency is carrying out in different regions in Somalia.
Mr. Fathi A. Mohamed, Mercy USA Director for East Africa Program delivered a presentation on the different activities being implemented by Mercy USA in Somalia.
Mr. Mohamed spoke on the need to coordinate different community efforts geared towards relief and development projects in Somalia. Community members and leaders in Ottawa attended the meeting and promised to work with Mercy USA in delivering much needed health, nutrition and water assistance services.
Mercy USA works in Togdheer, Sool, Bari, Galgadud, Hiiraan, Middle Shabelle, Banadir and Middle Juba.
Mercy-USA for Aid and Development (M-USA) is dedicated to alleviating human suffering and supporting individuals and their communities in their efforts to become more self-sufficient.
Founded in 1986, M-USA is a non-profit relief and development organization. Their main focus is on improving health and promoting economic and educational growth around the world.
