Omer, along with one Andrew Isa Ibrahim, 19, appeared together for the first time Friday at a crowded Bristol Crown Court, Midlands England, facing charges of possessing explosives, articles for terrorist purposes and intending to commit acts of terrorism.
He was accused of failing to disclose information to police about Ibrahim’s alleged preparations for a suicide bomb attack.
Prosecutors said that controlled explosions were carried out at Ibrahim’s home in Comb Paddock in April 2008.
The UK police said the teenager was accused of possessing Hexamethylene Triperoxide Diamine, also known as HMTD, which is an explosive organic chemical compound.
He is also accused of possessing two home-made vests, ball bearings, airgun pellets, nails and screws, wired circuitry, batteries and electric bulb filaments.
Officers arrested Omer in last June after their investigation into Ibrahim’s activities led them to his former rented home in Bellevue Road, Bristol.
Neither defendant entered pleas.
While Omer was remanded on conditional bail, Ibrahim was remanded in custody.
But Bristol Crown Court ruled the duo would stand separate trials, after appearing together again at the Crown Court on December 5 for a case progression hearing.
While Ibrahim’s case starts next June 1 at Winchester Crown Court, Omer’s trial is fixed for September 2009 at Bristol Crown Court.
