Losing immigration documents can make life nearly impossible for those who are living in the U.S.

For instance, Ismail Addi, who came to Fort Morgan as a refugee from Somalia, lost his papers that authorize employment and application for citizenship, as well as his Social Security information, while on a walk from the Gateway Apartments to the Adult Basic Education building in downtown Fort Morgan on Thursday, said Abdullahi Aden, a caseworker for Lutheran Family Services.

These papers are identifiable as coming from the U.S. Customs and Immigration Service. They have a picture ID and form I-94, Aden said.

Addi told Aden he fears he dropped them somewhere along his walk.

Anyone who finds documents like these is asked not to throw them away and to take them to the local police department or customs office. They are vital to becoming self-sufficient and a contributing citizen, Aden said.
