A 17-year-old has died in hospital after being shot in the head.

Sharmaarke Hassan was found with a gunshot wound in Gilbey's Yard, Camden, north London, shortly after 11pm on Saturday night.

The youngster, from Camden, was admitted to hospital but died on Wednesday night, police said.

It has emerged he was a convicted drug dealer and appeared in court last month charged with drug offences for which he was punished with 40 hours Community Service.

Mr Hassan also had convictions for breaching the terms of an Anti-Social Behaviour Order and stealing a £2,000 Cartier watch.

It is understood the Somali youth was a member of north London gang The Money Squad.

Mr Hassan is the 15th teenager to die violently in London this year.

He was shot the same day that Rob Knox was stabbed to death in a fight outside the Metro Bar in Sidcup, southeast London.

Rob was to play Marcus Belby in the forthcoming Harry Potter film.

Unemployed Karl Bishop, of Beaver Lodge, Carlton Road, Sidcup, has been charged with his murder.

Two weeks ago 16-year-old Jimmy Mizen, who like Rob played for Sidcup Rugby Club, suffered fatal injuries after being attacked with a shard of glass in a bakery in Lee, south-east London.

Jake Fahri, 19, of Lee, is accused of his murder.
