NAIROBI, May 9, 2008 (AFP) - A Kenyan court on Friday ordered the deportation of 25 immigrants back to Somalia after they pleaded guilty of being in the country illegally, state media reported.
Mombasa chief magistrate Catherine Mwangi ruled that the immigrants -- aged between 30 and 40 -- should be returned to neighbouring Somalia, which has been wracked by lawlessness since the 1991 ouster of dictator Mohamed Siad Barre.
The Somalis were arrested near the port city of Mombasa on Thursday, state-run Kenya News Agency reported.
Kenya is home to 237,000 refugees, mostly from Somalia and Sudan.
