Mogadishu, Somalia (HOL) - Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government (TFG) cabinet has approved today the recent peace agreement between the TFG and the Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia (ARS). The cabinet meeting was chaired by the deputy of the TFG Prime Minister Mr. Aydid Ilk-hanaf, who is also the Minister of Education in the TFG. The meeting involved a long discussion the merits of the agreement after which the cabinet approved the agreement.
The TFG spokesman Mr. Abdi Hagi Gob-don who attended the meeting told the press that the cabinet also received presentations from the Minister of Minerals and Electricity, the Minister of Public Works and Housing and the Minister of Women and Families.
The TFG spokesman added that the cabinet thanked the president of Djibouti for his role in hosting and facilitating the conference and ensuring its success. The spokesman also said that the cabinet also thanked the UN and the other international observers who were present at the conference.
Among the more important articles of the recent peace agreement in Djibouti are the cessation of hostilities, the withdrawal of Ethiopian troops from Somalia within 120 days after enough UN peacekeepers come to Somalia and the implementation of the agreement by both sides.
