Rumworth councillors approved an application from the Pikes Lane Community Club in Deane for £500 towards a sports project.
Money will be spent on sports equipment, trophies and medals and the club will be organising a Community League Challenge Cup.
Osman Hassan, from the community club, said: "The grant has made a massive difference.
"We've got loads of kids signed up to the scheme and we've got a real cross section of the community.
"We're hoping that the children who take part will make some lasting friendships."
The project will be run in partnership with the local Willows Community Club and the Somali Community Club.
The league will start on July 23 at Quebec Rec Zone and run every Wednesday until August 20.
