Senator Amy Klobuchar Hires Siad Ali for Staff

Minneapolis, MN – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar is proud to announce that Siad Ali has joined her Minnesota staff as a constituent advocate focusing on immigration casework and community outreach.

Ali was most recently a career counselor at the Work Force Center in Owatonna and an adjunct faculty member with Riverland Community College in Owatonna.  He also served on the Owatonna Human Rights Commission and the Owatonna Hospital Board of Trustees.  Earlier, he was a Bilingual Educational Assistant for the Minneapolis Public Schools. 

  

Klobuchar said she is delighted that Ali is working on her Senate staff.

  

“Siad brings a tremendous wealth of experience and knowledge about the diverse communities in our state,” Klobuchar said.  “As Senator, I am committed to making our government more accessible and responsive to all Minnesotans, and Siad will help me make that happen.”

  

As one of his first official duties, Ali recently arranged a meeting between Senator Klobuchar and former Somali President Ali Mahdi Mohamed, along with leaders of Minnesota’s Somali community.  Klobuchar thanked the community for their support and friendship.  They discussed the current situation in Somalia and Klobuchar reaffirmed her commitment to work with her Senate colleagues to support a reconciliation process that will bring peace and stability to Somalia.

  

Ali has more than seven years of experience in the employment, education and diversity fields. He holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce and computers from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India; a master’s degree of commerce from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, India; a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Pune, India; and a master’s degree in education from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

  

Ali said he looks forward to meeting with community members throughout the state to discuss issues of concern, including educational opportunity, economic development, access to health care and achieving a balance between security and fairness in immigration.
