Commander of U.S. Central Command, Admiral William J. Fallon said the U.S. government lauds the efforts of Ethiopia to maintain peace and stability in neighbouring countries.
Meles held talks on Wednesday with Admiral Fallon on issues related to Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Eritrea.
Ethiopia is desirous to provide support to efforts of solving election related problems in Kenya.
The Prime Minister said Ethiopia would also be supporting efforts to maintain peace and stability in Somalia as peace and stability in that country is significant to the Horn of Africa.
According to a senior government official who attended the discussion, efforts are underway to find solutions to the current situation in Sudan and peacefuly solve the Ethio-Eritrea dispute.
Admiral Fallon told journalists after the discussion that Ethiopia and the U.S. would work in cooperation to bring about peace in East Africa.
Encouraging result is being registered in the efforts to bring about sustainable peace and stability in Somalia. TFG of Somalia is registering encouraging results in the efforts to install government structure in that country.
