MINNEAPOLIS--The Somali community mourns the murder of 18-year-old Abdilahi Abdi who was shot late Friday night in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood in Minneapolis.

Investigators are still talking to witnesses, but they haven't made any arrests in the Abdi's murder.

Dozens of people gathered around the murder scene near 6th and Cedar just after nine o'clock Saturday night.

Minneapolis police found Abdi dead, inside a car.

Family members say Abdi's friend had just picked him up near the Cedar-Riverside housing complex.

They were headed to a family party.

Abdi got into the car and then was shot.

Omar Jamal, a leader with the Somali Justice Advocacy Center, says Abdi did not get into an argument with anyone before the shooting and he wasn't a trouble-maker.

“He has nothing to do with gangs and that's why the community is very upset of losing a young man with that ambition and integrity,” said Jamal.

Abdi planned to graduate from the Volunteers of America High School this spring.
