Crime Report: Victim spots rape suspect, police say

A man charged with three rapes at Seven Oaks Park near the airport was jailed Tuesday after a victim spotted his car while a police officer drove her home from the hospital.

Her "tremendous alertness" made a difference, Metro police spokesman Don Aaron said.

Farhan Ibrahim Mahamed, 30, 2706 Glenrose Ave., was charged with four counts of aggravated rape and one count of rape.

The Somali national admitted to assaulting three women, one Monday night, another early Tuesday morning and a third on Sept. 26, police said.

Police look for home invasion suspects

Metro police are searching for four or five males who broke into a Madison-area home Tuesday, then tied up a couple while robbing them.

The home invasion happened around 3:23 a.m. at the 1200 block of London Bridge Road, police said.

The robbers stole jewelry and cash from the couple, police said. One victim was hospitalized because a robber hit him on the head with a gun, police said. Police said the suspects left in a white 1990s Cadillac.

Chemical smell leads to drug bust

Police dismantled a methamphetamine lab Saturday after a tipster reported smelling chemicals burning in an apartment complex.

Five suspects were arrested at the Applegate Apartments on Wenlon Drive, police said.

Candace Miller, 21, Shana Odom, 22, Jan Arnold, 34 and Hester Lockridge, 29, were charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.

Ernest Jennings, 23, was charged with possession.
