On Tuesday 29th May 2007 at 12:30 pm the Canadian team of runners with representatives of other countries arrived with the World Harmony Run Torch for a National Ceremony on the steps of Parliament Hill.

The Somali Resource & Heritage Center sent Somali representatives dressing their traditional Somali dress, holding the beautiful Somali National Flag and said in Somali “Peace and Harmony” standing beside the dignitaries during the Ceremony.

The World Harmony Run is an international torch relay run that promotes global harmony through the dynamic medium of sport.  Founded in 1987 by humanitarian Sri Chinmoy, this annual event has blossomed into one of the World’s greatest initiatives for cultivating world unity and friendship. Canada is one of 70 nations that simultaneously participate in this 40,000 km inspirational event that invites all age groups and walks of life to participate in the passing of a symbolic torch from hand to hand.

Somali Resource & Heritage Center is honored to represent Somalia for the 2nd time in this World Harmony Run Ceremony to help celebrate the beautiful message of world oneness that this event is cultivating.  The two young Somali youth participants are Khaire Abdi Ismail and Said Abdi Ismail, with Isak Bakal took the pictures representing The Somali Resource and Heritage Center (SRHC) here in Ottawa.

The motto for this event is “CHANGING THE WORLD TOGETHER”
