It is with great sadness that MSF learned of the death of Ibrahim Abdi Isse, a hospital watchman for MSF in Beledweyne, who was killed while off duty. The tragic death of Ibrahim Abdi Isse is not linked to his activities with MSF. Sources indicate that the killing was the result of a personal dispute.
This sad incident in no way influences the commitment of MSF towards assisting the population in the region. His family and friends are in our thoughts.
MSF has been working in Somalia since 1991. The organization manages regular medical projects in the Bay, Banadir, Mudug, Galguddud, Hiraan, Lower Shabelle, Middle Shabelle, Middle Juba, Lower Juba, and Bakool regions. Since the resumption of fighting following the Ethiopian army military intervention, MSF has been assisting the displaced population in and around Mogadishu.
