Uganda hit light-weight Djibouti 7-0

Uganda Cranes started their East and Central Africa Senior Challenge Cup campaign with a bang when they hammered Djibouti 7-0 in a Group `B` match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

 

Hamis Kitagenda scored for the nine-time winners in the 18th, 20th and 37th minutes before Dan Wagaluka, Ronald Muganga, Tonny Odur and Vincent Kayizi added the others in the, 40th, 45th, 62nd and 85th minutes respectively.

 

The light-weight Djibouti tried to equalized through Mohamed Kader, Said Hassan, Kadae Saleh, Charmake Miad, Yacin Houssein and Maulid Ali but failed to break Uganda`s defence.

 

Cranes head coach Laszlo Csaba praised his boys for making a large-margin win start but maintained the competition was very tough.

 

Until we went to the press Rwanda were playing Eritrea in another Group `B` match at the same ground.

 

Hosts Kilimanjaro Stars piped Harambee Stars of Kenya 2-1 in the Group `A` opening match at the National Stadium on Saturday.
