The hunt is on for the man who shot and killed a Valley father of nine.

Thirty-seven-year-old Faisal Omar was shot and killed last Friday in an apartment complex at 40th Street and McDowell Road in Phoenix.

His family spoke to the media Tuesday and asked for the community's help in finding the shooter.

With mother and brothers and sisters by her side, 14 year old Safi Ahmed, is speaking out about her father.

"He's a good father, a person who makes you laugh, a hard worker and he loved us all," she said. "I couldn't believe it at first. I don't understand why somebody would actually do that to someone."

Omar, a native of Somalia was gunned down in broad daylight in the parking lot of the apartment complex he lived in.

"He came here for a better life and for someone to take that away from him is not right," said Ahmed.

Ahmed says she and her siblings will now help their mother who is expecting her tenth child in the next few weeks just like her father did.

"We'll all be here to take my father's place," Ahmed said. "Quit being a coward and come forward and don't do this to anybody else because you've already hurt a family and you don't want to hurt another one."

Police have no motive and very few leads.

Police, who say they have no motive and very few leads, have a vague description of who they believe shot the victim. He is currently described as an African-American male in his mid-twenties and about 6 feet 3.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Phoenix Police at 602-262-6151.
