UN Special Representative welcomes nomination of new Somali Prime minister

 

Nairobi, 22 November 2007 - The UN Special Representative for Somalia, Mr

Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, has welcomed today’s decision by Somalia’s President Abdullahi Yusuf to nominate Mr Nur Hassan Hussein as his new Prime Minister.

 

 

The SRSG noted with satisfaction the concerted efforts of members of the Transitional Federal Institutions that led to the decision and said he was pleased that the process was carried out in a peaceful manner.

 

 

‘I want to thank all those who contributed to this exercise being done peacefully,’ Mr Ould-Abdallah said. ‘I hope that this appointment will prepare the ground for a united approach.’
