Kenyan troops continue to defend Somali port

Forces who drove al-Shabab out of Kismayo eight months ago have stayed to maintain security.

Kenyan troops who took over the Somali port of Kismayo, once a stronghold of al-Shabab fighters, continue to fight against the armed group.

Eight months ago, the Kenyan forces, supported by local fighters, drove al-Shabab out of the city.

But members of the armed group remain in the area and African Union forces are trying to maintain security in the town.

Al Jazeera’s Mohammed Adow reports from Kismayo.
