HOL Editorial Response

Listing three narratives isn’t an editorial. An editorial, as I know it, is putting your perspective or viewpoint forward.

A good attempt to please all and ended up pleasing none, I guess.

This sounds like crash course on Somali politics to a non-Somali audience...Something you hear from CNN which is geared to the ignorant masses...HOL, please do not insult our intelligence again, your stance is clear...Let me guess, your next writing will be on the importance of Djibouti Peace Conference and dialogue between all parties in the conflict...

Fellow Readers, The International Community (United States) has already set its agenda...Don't be fooled by these peace conferences, it is just one of their deceptive ways...They have all the time and money to toy with us like this...We don't...Somalia is getting humiliated from every angle...The International Community recognizes the TFG but they don't want to help them a single bit...Infact the TFG is getting undermined and humiliated by Ethiopia and the US and it will remain like that until they are not needed anymore...But I don't blame them, they seem rather content with the humiliation they are in...The International Community is planning and plotting with all their deceptive tools and might but they cannot guarantee what is going  to happen tomorrow...

There is nothing black and white in this sad conflict as you seem to allude to. The truth is that Somalia is occupied by Ethiopia through the parrel of a gun. I fail to understand your point when you  make the issue a triangular and complex, when in fact it is as simple as  one country occupying the other.

The real truth is that each side is conveniently using their “facts” to fortify their position. I don’t buy/believe Ethiopia is in Somalia because of being a good neighborly. Ethiopia is there to make sure its interests are looked after. Some of Ethiopia’s interests are port accessibility; access to potential oil/natural resources; not having a hostile and strong Somali government as their neighbors, etc. This is the very reason that Ethiopia is sponsoring and advocating the Somaliland secession drive. This is why it supports Puntland’s drive of oil exploration, etc.

For the “Re-Liberation” motive is a pure opportunism. Many actors of “Alliance” were agents of Ethiopia not long ago; they are conveniently whipping nationalism fervor. If their main concern is removing Ethiopian army out of Somalia, they need to somehow secure the internal security of the country. Their pre-condition of any sort of negotiations, is unreasonable in my opinion.

The TFG is outright foolhardy to solely relay on a foreign army. It has neither vision nor a courage to turn the page, if you will, and win-over the “heart and mind” of the population. I believe, squandered a good opportunity to finally institute a fully representing government.

Finally, I believe every Somali person is somewhat responsible of our plight! We value Tribe/clan over nationalism!
