Camped out for several days, young girls are anticipating the nail biting moment when their favorite celebrity walks out. He or she waves from a balcony looking down on more than thousands of faces. Expressions of exhaustion cloud the faces of these fans as they wave up at this celebrity for no more than 10 minutes. They begin to scream in hopes that their voice would shine through as if the room was silent. This is far from a typical scream. With echoes of admiration coupled with desperation, their voices birth a very frantic scream; one that grows louder after every breath. That same celebrity looks down at these fans; cracks a smile, waves, and leaves.

Contrary to admiration, the young men do not admire but rather aspire to imitate. Drugs, women, and fame has dominated today's definition of success. I’m not surprised that our generation is looking up-to this lifestyle. After all, you do get paid three times as much as a successful entertainer than you do as a doctor. Unfortunately, the world we live in makes it normal for people to earn millions of dollars to stand in front of a camera and let the world watch their every day lives. Today's status of entertainment reminds me of a circus; people come to watch entertainers and enjoy the overall show. Unfortunately, many try to emulate those inside the cage.

For more than half, if not our entire lives now, we've spent it looking up to celebrities as we gaze at our television set, watching our favorite shows. And because we never come in contact with the people seen on television, we almost perceive it to be a different world. We have to pay thousands of dollars to come even an inch close to these celebrities. The glitz and the glamor, the paparazzi, the flashing lights, has captured the minds of those of us who aren't in the media business, and has made us believe they live better lives, simply because they have money, mansions and cars that majority of people don't have. Well at least that's what society has made us believe.
Sometimes I feel as though we forget the basics; like how it took nine months for the both of you to be born or how celebrities have to eat food because they get hungry too. Did I mention they get sick as well? I know it may come off silly because this is suppose to be the obvious but if we really knew the obvious would we treat them any better?

Have you wondered why paparazzo is an actual profession? Why it is normal for us to know every single detail to a celebrity’s life, from the day they were born to their favorite food? Why do we get excited when celebrities or royals have bridal showers or weddings? As if they aren't the same people who would call security if you showed up to say congratulations? Why have they forgotten that without you they are a no-body? If every fan bails on that one person, tell me how relevant they are. People envy this lifestyle, the fame and the fortune is something they crave. These are normal human behaviors; because fame feeds the ego, eventually leading someone to self-validation of their importance. The world’s population might love you and cheer

you on, but what is one’s love to you when you do not know of their existence. I've seen countless amount of celebrities who say, "Behind the cameras, I usually get lonely".

A massive proportion of celebrity deaths are due to overdose on drugs. I can’t help but think we’re are closing our eyes to the obvious. If that isn’t proof that this perfect life of celebrities exposed to us through media is a façade, then I don’t know what will.

The title of this blog is called Idol worshipper, to show us the resemblance between the Idols made of stone that were worshipped during Prophetic times and the idols that are being worshipped in the 21th century. The same humans built them both. They made them from scratch, with mud and concrete. And we created celebrities through praise. The moral of this blog is emphasizing on this one point. A good life will never exist especially if you spend your time envying the life of others or worshipping those that can never help you. Be grateful and realize that inner peace is the foundation of the bigger picture. To capture it we have to know that even if we have a little, to another person you may have the world. We need to make sure money is in "our hands not in our hearts", fame is being important to our Lord, not his creation.
