Can Farmajo, at least, act like Karzai?

Let me first admit that we, Somalis, are to blame on the state of affairs in our country. It is true that there is enormous international -- I call thugs’ -- interference in our country. But if we had united in restoring peace to our country so as our people live in respect and honor, Ugandan killers would not have gotten a chance to mow down our women and children in such a merciless manner through indiscriminate shelling into residential neighborhoods and markets of Mogadishu.

The current government and the Ugandan killers will be remembered for the genocide they're committing in Mogadishu, or the role they played in abetting it.

I’m happy that there are individuals in the government and civil society groups who are recording these atrocities. Also, I’m happy to say that Somalia, arguably, is the only country in the world that has active diaspora community and individuals who love their country and follow its affairs around the clock.

So whether Ugandans continue their killing spree or sober up, they should rest assured that they have entered Somali history the wrong way. And that the upcoming generation will be taught directly or indirectly about their massacres.

Before their arrival, Somalis loved Ugandans and some joked that the Ugandan President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, hailed originally from Somalia, like Rwanda's Tutsi.

But the fact is: a brother hardly sells you for his selfish interest; at least he will never relish in your sufferings.

I have no trust in the country's current crop of leaders. But I have little, if any, trust in Prime Minister Farmajo’s ability to tell the Ugandan killers in their face to stop the killing of innocent civilians, particularly at Bakara market; to stop shelling residential neighborhoods; to stop gunning down innocents on their way to and from their stations.

One stupid person can argue that al-shabab is the cause of all these problem.

But let’s put aside our differences over al-Shabab and agree on certain facts: Al-Shabab fighters are brutal killers and have committed atrocities against their fellow Somalis. But we should get our solace in the fact that al-Shabab fighers will in a short time -- I mean a very few years at the most-- disappear with all their good or bad things.

Anyone who belives in al-shabab and that it is working for the introduction of the Islamic law need to think twice. Not a single, well-known Somali Sheik sanctions their actions. They are considered Takfiriyin kuwaas oo xalaashaday dhiiga islaamka for no good reason)

What I want to focus here is on the Ugandan troops in Mogadishu. We have to understand the man who dispatched them to Somalia: Museveni, is a regional bully brat, ruthless dictator and expansionist who came to power through the help of the AK-47 in 1986.

We should also understand that the so-called peacekeepers first came to Somalia to give a cover to the murderous Ethiopian invaders, and when the killer Ethiopians were defeated, they quickly assumed their brutal role of killing civilians randomly.

Although I’m really indignant and bitter about the Ugandan troops in Mogadishu, I don’t want to appear a person moved by emotion or blinded by his love for the fallen innocent people.

I will furnish you with facts and figures for you to come up with your own conclusion:

-- In November, Amisom itself admitted killing two civilians and injuring seven others.

-- Last year, Mogadishu's former deputy mayor, Abdifatah Ibrahim Shawey, accused Amisom troops of killing 18 civilians after the so-called peacekeepers fired at three mini-buses.

--- About 80 percent of the deaths at Bakara market are perpetrated by the Ugandan troops, according to Ali Muse who is the only man taking care of the injured and the deceased.

Burundian, we should note are well meaning troops, at least not like the Ugandans. Yes, they kill civilians. But, unlike the Ugandans, they don't love to snuff lives out of innocents civilians. They are not as brutal and trigger-happy as their fellow Ugandans. It is said that Ugandans despise the Burundians for their lack of gut to kill civilians -- looma ooyaanka soomalida ah.

It’s my hope that the Burundians will not heed those teases, but raise above those petty propaganda and leave behind a good legacy.

--- Internal AMISOM reports urge commanders to stop killing civilians or risk the public backlash.

--- At least three Somali ministers have asked Amisom to stop killing civilians through indiscriminate shelling.

As all of you know, the pathological liar, Barigye Bahoku, have kept denying all along that his troops are killing civilians, but Mogadishu residents, who see the daily artillery shells flying over their heads into the Bakara market know that he is the biggest liar in the world. ( read his garbage from here:

But dilute it with Washington Post's report:

And also this press release from the Somali Diaspora:

/print2_op/2010/oct/somali_diaspora_strongly_condemns_amisom_s_indiscriminate_bombardment_of_civilians_in_mogadishu.aspx

This month, an Amisom tank destroyed part of a wall that protected Shabelle radio station, which is located even in the areas they controlled. Their statement, which tried to apologize for the intentional destruction, was ridiculous and indeed insulted– as they always do – the intelligence of Somalis – and the world.

Now let’s forget a bit of the agony of the fallen and focus more on the plight of the alive.

Farmajo, who cut his teeth on the days when Somalia was a respectful, feared state, should stop the massacres. We can’t afford to have educated people at the helm of the leadership, yet their subjects are being killed randomly with an abandon and impunity -- and on daily basis.

What struck me as weird was the action of the so-called peacekeepers when the BBC reporter, Andrew Harding, visited Mogadishu recently.

Viewers could see Ugandan troops firing into unknown directions _ the world and anyone who watched his show off reporting _ would ask: wasn't there a human being near the targeted areas?

It beats the logic that a professional soldier fires into an area where the possibility of hitting someone is high. It is a crime against humanity to shell or target areas where the likelihood of hitting civilians is high even when your enemy is hiding out there. Anyone who lives in Mogadishu knows, (wiiftada) stray bullets kill civilians everyday.

Here are what I would like Farmajo to do.

--Understand the fact that Ugandans and Burudians are in Somalia not to save Somalia. Nor to protect you and your government, but to take advantage of Somalia's misery. Somalia’s chaos has become a job-creating source.

According to the East African Magazine, the Amisom troops are paid $750 a month. Uganda docks $200 from each soldier. Burundi, on the other hand, takes off the recommended $100. Here is the link:

http://www.theeastafrican.co.ke/news/-/2558/1070662/-/view/printVersion/-/qhgemh/-/index.html .

Is it strange then to read that Ugandans are sending a further 4,000 killers to Somalia to provide jobs to its troops.

Picture this situation: Somali troops can’t get regular salaries, have no camps or accommodations. Yet the foreigners lead a lavish lifestyle, with canned food and clean fruits and even bottled water shipped in or flew in from the best markets outside Somalia.

--Farmajo, pleae spend your power and time on reaching out to Islamists (they are after all Somalis.) Didn't you taught negotiation skills in New York? Don’t ever get discouraged by their rhetoric that they consider the government as apostate and its leaders infidels.

You should know that there are foreign forces and countries who are misusing Somalis. Al-Shabab, you should understand, is not ran by Somalis and does not work for any Somali agenda. But to defeat and dismantle them will not either be achieved through training more troops who will definitely get no salary or by calling misguided young Somalis terrorists and foreigners. But to reach out to those nationalists within al-shabab who care about their country. You must consult with those people who penetrated al-shabab months ago and created an internal cell that was the one behind the bombing of the mosque that almost killed Fuad Shangole.

But everything starts with you putting your house in order and reining in killer Ugandans who are giving you a bad name.

Many nationalists and Islamists vilify Afghanistan’s leader, Karzai, for being a stooge for the west and leading a puppet government. But I salute him for standing up to the very people who are claiming to be protect him.

It is official that he is not in good terms with the US and NATO officials and their troops. He was quoted many times expressing his misgivings about their overall intention in his country.

Read below links and see if we have an outspoken person like him:

Here are my best quotes from Karzai: "I am not happy with civilian casualties coming down; I want an end to civilian casualties. As much as one may argue it's difficult, I don't accept that argument."

Farmajo, you should at least emulate Karzai: tell Ugandans to stop killing civilians -- in-their-face. And if you find them stubborn, tell Somalis the truth that Somalia is being occupied by Ugandans. Because they know how to chase away invaders. I’m sure if things come to that stage, most of those killers will be drown in the Indian ocean and inay kabahooda ka carari sidii maraykanka oo kale. In fact, hooyaday yaa arkayeey baa ka dhici lahayd.

Farmajo, walaalow waa ku baryayaaye save the lives of innocent people in Mogadishu from Ugandans. Waa kubaryaayaaye. Please stand up to be counted. And to appreciate what I’m talking about, just pay a visit to Mogadishu hospitals to see the suffering of the wounded women and children who have been mutilated by artillery shells and have no chance to either die or live.
