As far as I can remember, there are two things which gave Beled-Weyne the regional city in central Somalia a popularity which Somalis associate with the regional capital of Hiiraan with out every being there.

The most important one of the stated two things is the legendary love Song of Hadrawe called “Beled-Weyne” with all its romantic and poetic description for the most beautiful Somali lady the master of lyric have ever seen while she was fetching water from Schebelle River.

The second popularity feature of Beled-Weyne is of course the Schebelle River with all its picturesque background where “Beer Lu La” was collecting water for her family. The river is Allah blessing for the people and a periodically disaster carrier at the same time which ironically made Beled-Weyne also popular to us. What is the point? is may be the question that one correctly might ask himself at this point.

The answer is very simply. Beled-Weyne, is gradually becoming popular again in the national context but this time may be in apocalyptic form which the relatively peaceful town in Hiiraan had never witnessed.

Just Imagine, you live in Washington, Toronto, London or Berlin and you decided to open a school in your original home town no matter what the motivation might be and unexpectedly someone you don’t known comes across and deletes your life in matter of seconds. Just imagine, you weak up daily in the early morning and you want to earn your livings or help your family just like the good old days “Beer Lula” but you can be killed at any time and any moment by friendly clan bullets.

To avoid any misunderstanding, our Beled-Weyne is not different from other horrifying towns in Somalia but only the shocking killing of four an armed teachers including a women in the town, motivated me to choose the city symbolically for our never-ending tragedy. However, with the beginning of the Islamic movements in Mogadishu, Beled-Weyne was always politically a pioneer arena for irresponsibly competing religious and secularist elements in the area backed by aggressive clan based manipulations.

In a HOL article, the editorial team projected hope in the honest political activities and operations of Honourable premier Minister “Adee” and his alleged counter partner Sheikh Sheriff who is knowingly based in Asmara.

My personal judgement contradicts diametrically the HOL optimistic judgement and found the article scenario to certain extend tendentious, because I strongly doubt that Mr Sheriff have any influence on the brutal operations of the self declared Allah warriors. Therefore, my suggestion to these senseless killings is the direct negotiation with these armed groups rather than with those who are operating opposition wise in the international political banquet.

Otherwise, the modern “Mugahiidians” as they prescribe themselves will continue to liberate killers, pathological rapists and murders from the prisons of every town and villages they “capture” for a short while and consequently the killings will continue more brutally everywhere in Somalia.

Obviously, I am not a politically friend of the self declared “Mugahidiin” but I rather prefer and recommend a direct dialogue with them just to stop these senseless killings of our innocent people day in day out. I rather prefer that the TFG political actors go for the direct dialogue with the “Mujahiidian” if it is  possible, just to revitalise Mr Hadrawe’s peaceful, prosperous and romantic image of Beled-Weyne for our people as whole and make it real for our peace loving people of course not only for my symbolic town but every where in Somalia.

My undividable solidarity and condolence is for those who lost their beloved ones in these senseless killings. Yesterday in Beled-Weyne and tomorrow may be elsewhere in Somalia.
