I hope many diehard secessionists in North Somalia and elsewhere agree with me the fact, that claiming, campaigning and propagate for virtual independence of a territory against visible or invisible protagonist is the ultra-light side of a coin. To simplify what I want to bring out is, that it is known that corruption deteriorates the stability and moral of a society from inside and bring it to a total collapses. Comparatively and biological expressing, in plants, fungal infection or cancer in human body, both diseases deteriorates the resistance of plants/human in a low motion and leads ultimately to a final death.
Following that, the political class in Hargeisa (Exclusively Said Barre Scholars) are equally and without exception and alleged clan, the world champions of a devastating corruption culture against Harding working people in the region who are suffering seriously an overdose of corruption executed by their elected scrupulous politicians. In contrary to the daily Propaganda of the secessionists against the war torn Southern Somalia, it is the corrupted local politicians of the region that are a real threat to the relatively peaceful environment in the area and not those innocent people who are suffering war, droughts etc in South Somalia.
However, Somalis from Diaspora or external visitors are confronted in Hargeisa a cannibalistic corruption mentality right at the Airport named after Mr Mohamed Haji Ibrahim Egal, the later Premier Minister of Somalia. Starting from the arrival or departure from Hargeisa airport, bad behaving and greedy faces of different airport employees approaches passengers telling aggressively that the airport employees are badly paid and need money for their daily expenses no matter how. There is absolutely no visible discipline, administration, seniority or duty division among employees at the air port which is in place.
Every airport employee from the top to the bottom is engaged on how to bring in or out someone from his family/relative or college from the airport as quick as possible. Unknown and disciplined visitors simply keep watching the frustrating and time consuming chaotic circus of loud shouting individuals at the airport. Those who have no body at the airport must be patient in queue and pay airport fee after all other passengers “proudly” left the airport.
The situation is quite similar in Berbera Sea and Airport bazaars where a corrupted and clan dominated group turned the national ports to literally Alfred Hitchcock horror ghost houses. Is that the price for the alleged independence?
Similarly, primitive mentality and undisciplined and chaotic organisational movements governs the floors of the presidency, Ministries offices each own by a clan who are visibly shouting before the khat sessions kick-off for all. Similar anarchic and senseless hectic activities can be monitored daily in both honourable houses of the “democratically elected institutions” of the Region but I will not recommend no body to listen the political pollution circulating at the corridors because most of the hard talks at such sights is nothing more than nauseating clan politics.
You won’t hear for example any protest or heating discussions on national issues, for example about the catastrophic education standard in the area. Mostly, private individuals own the education system just like bread business. The only difference is that ordinary people can differentiate between good and bad bread and not the quality of education offered by business people who are of course profit oriented. The corrupted secessionist consortium in Hargeisa are more concerned on how to fill their pockets rather than to take care of the quality of the education for a huge lost generations in the Region. The frustrating point at this situation is that the clan based propaganda of the so-called political parties and hardcore secessionists in the Diaspora diverted the attention of the people to a never-ending and alleged enemy in the South. Gradually, the crucial question one can ask himself now in the new Mogadishu of the North is how long the political class are going to fool the people?
The ongoing aggressive Stone Age clan politics which is the fundament of the corruption reached its peak as some clan janglers lead by the president declared Caynabo, Odwenye or Zeila as regions without undertaking any viability studies or the issue being discussed by the claimed democratically elected Parliament.
The hardworking and very efficient people in the North are becoming more and more victims of irresponsible and destructive political corruption. One of the systematic and recent evidence of manipulating the people in the North is the macabre propaganda against the new Somali passport. If you go to Hargeisa holding the new Somali passport and you are not from the North, the immigration officers will send you back to where you come from. Strange enough, most of the Somalis including their politicians in the North use the old Somali travel documents. This senseless activism shows the political quality and subtle propagandistic operations of the ruling class to mislead the people from the burning issues in the area.
Politicians in Hargeisa execute systematically such irresponsible and hypocritical actions but at the same time they humiliate innocent Somali individuals at the airport so that people in Hargeisa will be remembered life time the “bad boys” from the South. For the fairness of the critics, we have fortunately many heroes in the huge and active civil societies in the North who are swimming against the tsunami corruption waves in Hargeisa which is induced by the political class in the area.
Having said all that, as I am from the North, the real enemy of the people in the North is not the Somalis in south or the TFG but the corrupted politicians in Hargeisa. This must be challenged otherwise people will suffer the impact of the corruption and that will seriously undermine the astronomic achievements of the hard working people in Hargeisa, Borama, Burao etc as well as the peace which is the inevitable frame of real life.
