Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali military court sentenced Mohamed Abdullahi Haji Ali (Jawari) to ten years in prison on Saturday for being a member of the al-Shabab militants.
Colonel Mohamed Abdi Muumin, a member of the military court, reported that Jawari was found guilty of being in charge of espionage for al-Shabaab. He joined the group in the Jilib district in 2013, where he underwent a three-month training in the Abu-Zubayr camp located between Jilib and Bu'ale, focusing on the use of weapons.
After completing his training, Jawari and the trained team were transported to the Galgaduud region, specifically Wabho and Elbur districts. There, he was reportedly involved in two ambush attacks against Ethiopian troops in central Somalia.
The intelligence agency forces arrested him in November of the previous year in Peace Park in the Hamar Jajab district in Mogadishu.
