Several witnesses offered testimony on Friday in the trial
of the killing and beheading of a homeless person in Lower Bavaria in Germany.
The accused, who stand before the Deggendorf district court,
is a 22-year-old who is said to have killed a roommate in a homeless shelter in
July 2021 with at least 111 stab wounds and decapitated his body.
The attacker of Somali origin was hospitalized in a
psychiatric ward. He is said to have been in a state of incapacity.
Nevertheless, the prosecutor in the case is bringing the man to trial for the
crime, according to German newspaper Bild.
Two therapists detailed several conversations with the
accused during the trial. He gave different versions of the crime, sometimes
seemed surprised that his victim had died, and sometimes said that the roommate
asked him to kill him.
The perpetrator spoke about voices in his head and statues
standing behind him and staring at him. He was also afraid that the Christian
faith would be injected into him by the other man like a hard drive downloading
data.
Police officers reported that the accused could not be
calmed down after his arrest in the detention cell. He had given an “insane”
impression and had repeatedly hit his head against the wall with full force.
It took several officers to tie up the man. According to his
own statement, one of the officers suffered a rupture in his left wrist.
