Landmine blast kills three soldiers in Hiiraan region

    Mogadishu (HOL) - At least three government soldiers were killed and two others wounded in a landmine explosion at the Cigaal control in Bulo Burti district of the Hiiraan region on Saturday.

    The explosion was targeted at Somali military personnel stationed at the checkpoint, according to the eyewitnesses.

    Security officials said that the forces arrested several people in operation after the attack and would investigate.

    No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for recent attacks against security forces in the country.

    At least five people were killed, and 14 others were injured after a powerful car bomb attack targeted a popular hotel frequented by Hirshabelle authorities in Jowhar on Sunday. Al Shabaab said it was behind the attack.
