MOGADISHU (HOl) - President Mohamed Farmaajo left for Eritrea Monday morning to attend the trilateral summit bringing together the leaders of Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia.
A statement from Villa Somalia noted the three leaders will ‘use the summit to review and evaluate the effectiveness of existing efforts and measures to boost transparency in the region, discuss strengthening regional stability geared towards countering terrorism and address challenges surrounding regional Cooperation and integration.’
The meeting follows a similar in early 2019 when the three leaders met in Ethiopia in furtherance of their first meeting in 2018 following the normalization of ties among the three countries.
President Farmaajo last travelled to Ethiopia last October to attend the inauguration of Unity Park in Addis Ababa.
