MOGADISHU (HOL) - Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire has directed the Ministry of Finance to swiftly deliver COVID-19 funds to the regional states and the Banadir Regional Administration to curb the spread of the virus.
Prime Minister Khaire instructed the Finance Ministry to deliver US $ 1 million to each regional state and the BRA.
He made the announcement during a virtual meeting by the COVID-19 emergency response committee members.
He stressed the importance to unify the strength of the Somali people during these trying times, calling on the various sections of the society to join hands in the eradication of the infection.
The meeting was also attended by the BRA Governor, Omar FIlish and all the regional states health ministers, briefing the meeting on COVID-19 status in their respective regions and their needs.
They welcomed the Prime Minister's decision to distribute funds to the regions and hoped that the funds would help expedite their early tasks.
