Mogadishu (HOL) - A car packed with explosives at a checkpoint outside of Mogadishu injured 4 soldiers on Monday afternoon.
According to witnesses, a vehicle that was stopped at X- Control Afgoye was detonated as soldiers
HOL spoke with the Banadir Regional Administration spokesperson, Abdifatah Omar Halane, said that the vehicle was involved in a shooting in Bondhere district that injured three soldiers earlier in the day.
He added that police were actively searching for the vehicle after the shooting before soldiers manning the checkpoint at X-Control Afgoye reported finding a car that matches the description idly parked. The soldiers approached the car with caution before then it exploded, wounding four soldiers.
There has no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but few groups in Somalia possess the material and knowledge to create sophisticated bombs.
