Somalia President receives credentials from Belgian Ambassador

MOGADISHU (HOL) - Belgian Ambassador Roxane de Bilderling presented her credentials to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia at the presidential palace in Mogadishu today.

Ms. de Bilderling said that her country as a member of European Union stands ready to strengthen communication and cooperation between their two respective nations.

President Hassan congratulated the Ambassador on her new position and expressed hope that the bilateral relations will be beneficial for both countries.

The two sides discussed the current status of relations with particular attention to both security and economic development.

After years of turmoil and political disarray, Somalia's new government has been restoring diplomatic relations as it slowly rejoins the international community.
