Djibouti Telecom wins the Djibouti Cup

Djibouti telecom football club has won the Djibouti cup to gain their second major football victory of the year after beating Dikhil FC rivals 4-2 in the final match over the weekend.

Djibouti Cup is the 2nd major football event in the country after the National league known here as FDF Division One.

The hotly-contested match attracted tens of thousands of viewers including top government officials lead by the country’s prime minister, Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed, minister for youth and sports, Hassan Mohamed Kamil, the president of the Djiboutian football Federation, Souleiman Hassan Waberi and other government officials.

The winners were presented a trophy, 25 gold medals and as well as 1 million Djiboutian Frans, while Dikhil FC was presented 2nd place trophy and 5 hundred thousand Djiboutian Frans.

Djibouti Telecom recently won the national league to confirm their 4th successive national league title.

Meanwhile, a very colorful closing ceremony for the Djibouti Cup was held at the people’s Manson in the capital Djibouti and was attended by key government officials including the minister for youth and sport Hassan Mohamed Kamil, the president of the federation, Souleiman Hassan Waberi and authorities from the country’s football clubs.

In Djibouti major football progress has been made for the past three and a half years during which the young age President Souleiman Hassan Waberi and his executive committee succeeded to implement the biggest number of football development programs.
