Minneapolis police were called to the area of Franklin and Chicago avenues at 10:22 p.m. on a report of shots fired, but the call was updated to a shooting as police drove to the area.

Two men found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. One of the men, 24-year-old Abdirahman Jined, died several hours after arriving at the hospital, while the other, 20-year-old Jorge Ulises Zavaleta-Martinez, died Sunday afternoon.

Jined's brother told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the family moved to Minnesota from Kenya in 2006. He said he fears cultural conflicts found their way to Minneapolis, too.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has ruled both deaths homicides.

The suspect fled before police arrived, and no one is in custody. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from area businesses for clues.

Minneapolis police urges anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send an anonymous tip to CRIMES (274637) and begin message with: TIP674 or call the MPD tip line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
