MOGADISHU (HOL) - Somali legislators who convened for an extraordinary confidence vote for the new cabinet ministers Saturday in what appeared to be a tough day for the prime minister who requested ten days postponement to face confidence vote in the parliament.

In an attempt to forefend the apparent no confidence vote, a Somali legislator says the prime minister submitted a request letter seeking for ten days extension of which he'd have to complete his cabinet
formation, adding five more ministers. It's unclear if the legislators would accept his vote delay request.

The legislator who asked not to be named told HOL that the prime minister's opponents are rallying force behind them to gauge enthusiasm for a vote which he said is likely to withdraw confidence
vote from the new cabinet.

Somalia's new cabinet line-ups, mostly political novices drew opposition from majority of legislators who accused the prime minister of forming an 'incompetent' cabinet.

Despite the political showdown, it's unclear if the vote would go ahead at the legislative body which saw series confidence votes that saw prime ministers being removed for the past few years.

HOL will keep you posted for any updates as they come.
