Mogadishu, Somalia (HOL) - The former internal security minister of the federal government of Somalia Abdulkarim Hussein Guled has been appointed as Somali president’s political advisor.
The new advisor was nominated in a presidential decree, dated on 29 June 2014, but was circulated to the media on Friday.
In May this year, Mr. Guled resigned from the cabinet due to a failure to tackle local insecurity.
His resignation coincided with hours after Al Shabab militants attacked Somali parliament building on 24th of May killing several soldiers. Three parliamentarians were also wounded in the attack.
The appointment marks the end of recent speculations that Somali president was pressuring on the Prime minister to make a cabinet reshuffle in a bid to have Mr Guled reinstated to a different ministerial post.
