Lasanod, Somalia (HOL) - Atleast 20 people were killed in the heavy fighting in Sah-Dhere in the region of Sool this morning and a further thirty were injured. This violent incident took place 75km south of Lascanood district, the capital of Sool.

The news from observers and witnesses stated that the leaders of Khatuumo and some politicians who were invited to attend the inauguration of the newly elected President of Khatuumo state, Ali Khalif Galeydh, escaped to a village near the Ethiopian border.

Sources confirmed HOL that an MP in the Khatuumo Parliament, Mahamud Abdi Yasin, was captured along side 9 other people who were mainly civilians.

“The bodies were spread out on the edges of the village,” witnesses in Sahdeer told HOL. They further added that soldiers from Somaliland who carried out this attack had now retreated but are still on the periphery of the city.

The newly elected President of Khatuumo who was awaiting his inauguration is now in the areas that fall into the Ethiopian territory as the Somaliland soldiers remained inside the area for the inauguration of the President of Khatuumo State.

The chief of the Somaliland army General Ismail Shaqalle said that his force invaded the village of Sahdeer because an army from Mogadishu and Kismayo with weapons had been brought in to the region yesterday.
