A memorial service has been held for two men who were killed in Somalia whilst working for the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Clément Gorrissen, aged 28, and 57 year old Simon Davis, were killed in an attack by an unidentified gunman in Puntland, Somalia on April 7th this year.

They had just disembarked from a flight at Galkayo airport when the gunman opened fire, fatally wounding both men.

At the service in Vienna, the Executive Director of UNODC, Yuri Fedotov, paid tribute to the men.

"They did difficult work in difficult conditions that rarely makes the headlines, but that is absolutely necessary and essential to promote fairness and integrity. In this way, Simon and Clément supported the people of Somalia and helped lay a careful foundation for peace and prosperity in this region."  (25″)
The two men from France and the United Kingdom often worked together.

They were in Somalia to help build local capacities in the field of illicit money flows.
