Wednesday, February 08, 2012

Jessica Buchanan, the American hostage rescued in Somalia last month, thanked her rescuers, adding that she was "overwhelmed" and "humbled" by the support she received during her three-month ordeal.

"I am overwhelmed and so very grateful for the prayers and support my family and I have received from people around the world," 32-year-old Buchanan, who returned to her hometown of Goode, Va., last week, said in a statement.

She added, "I am humbled by the dedication of President [Barack] Obama and those in the American government who planned and orchestrated my rescue, and by the bravery and heroism of the soldiers who risked their lives to carry it out."
