Somalia's Presidential Election Committee spokesman Osman Libah Ibrahim announced the criteria for presidential candidates at a news conference in Mogadishu on Saturday (September 1st).
Under the electoral committee's ten-point criteria, candidates must pay a $10,000 registration fee, should be Muslim, over 40 years of age and without a criminal record, Ibrahim said.
A pending requirement states that candidates must have the support of at least 20 members of parliament in order to run, according to Ibrahim.
Presidential elections are scheduled to take place on September 10th, officially marking the end of transitional government in Somalia.
