Somalia will be the earliest country to arrive in Kampala for Cecafa. They touch down at Entebbe Airport on November 8 but will hope they are not the first to return home.

The Ocean Stars are already booked in at the Mandela Hotel, Namboole and will be camped there until the eve of the tournament that runs from November 24 to December 8 in Kampala.

“Somalia will arrive earlier than the rest reason being they need assemble their team,” explained Rogers Mulindwa, the Fufa publicist, told the media in Kampala on Wednesday.

“They thought it was better for them to camp here earlier since their players are scattered in different areas in America, Nairobi, in Kampala and Somalia.

“Our responsibility as Fufa is to receive them at the Airport on November 8 and they will take care of themselves until the period of Cecafa when we shall be looking after them.”

Inland transport and accommodation for all 12 teams will be catered for by the tournament sponsors, the East Africa Breweries, under their Tusker brand.

Meanwhile, 11 Cecafa countries have confirmed participation in the tournament apart from Djibouti.

“Cecafa is considering replacing Djibouti with one of the three other countries that have expressed interest in playing,” added Mulindwa.

Cameroon, Malawi and Zimbabwe have expressed interest in participating as guests, according to Mulindwa, who said one of them will be taken on. Zambia and Botswana have since fallen off.
