Halifa Ayan Yusuf, 21, will represent Somalia in the 2012 Miss East Africa pageant scheduled for December 7th in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's Daily News reported Wednesday (October 31st).
Event Co-ordinator Rena Callist said more than 3,120 contestants from across East Africa had registered to compete in the preliminary rounds. He said Yusuf is ready to compete in the finals and joins seven other contestants from the region so far.
Other finalists include Jocelyne Diana Maro (Tanzania), Akuot Philip Suzan (Southern Sudan), Rahwa Afeworki (Eritrea), Lula Teklehaimanot (Ethiopia), Mugisha Nadege (Burundi), Annabelle Marvel Pointe (Seychelles) and Ayisha Nagudi (Uganda).
Sixteen countries will participate in the pageant, Callist said.
