Mogadishu (HOL) – A group of men shot and killed a well known clan elder in Somalia’s capital on Friday. The clan leader was among the delegation who selected the Members of Parliament in August.
Witnesses to the murder report seeing Malaaq Issaq Ibrahim walking in Waaberi district when the group of assailants attacked him. He was hit by several gun shots. They managed to flee and escape after the attack.
He succumbed to his injuries while on his way to Daaru-Shifaa hospital.
A motive for the killing is still unknown and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Clan elders have played a pivotal role in forming Somalia’s first post transitional federal government.
