One of the deadliest fighting near Bossaso in Puntland claimed the lives of more than 30 people.
A local militia allied with Alshabab launched an attack against Puntland forces who was petrolling in the area, which is a base of an armed group associated with Alshabab.
Shiekh Abdi’aziz Abu Musab an Alshabab spokesman claimed responsibility of the attack.
“They were trying to attack the Mujahedin ,we planted explosives on the road, then we hit their cars with rockets, we have killed 27 of them”.He said.
“We lost three of our fighters in the fighting”. Abu Mus’ab Added.
Most of the casualties were the result of that attack Alshabab claims.
Puntland government is yet to respond on this fighting which was the heaviest since Puntland announced the elimination of the group last year.
Although some local leaders have disputed that the group is linked to Alshabab, they publicly united with Alshabab and Alqa’ida last week.
