Bail set at $100,000 for North Dakota man charged with rape

FARGO, N.D. — Bail has been set for $100,000 cash or bond for a 26-year-old Fargo man accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in daylight.

Bashir Abdi Noor is charged with gross sexual imposition, a Class AA felony.

Noor made his first appearance Tuesday in Cass County District Court. He was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.

Authorities say the assault took place Saturday outside the Somali Business Center in Fargo.

Police say the girl escaped and alerted others, who chased Noor.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole.
