Mogadishu, Somalia (HOL) - A demonstration organized by the people displaced in the war in Mogadishu who currently live in make shift houses between Mogadishu and Afgoye city took place yesterday in support of the decision to remove the Mayor of Mogadishu Mr. Mohamed Omar Habeb (Mohamed Dhere) from his post.
Some of the demonstrators, most of whom were women and children, told the media that they strongly support the decision to remove Mohamed Dhere from his post as Mayor of Mogadishu.
The demonstrators blame Mohamed Dhere for being responsible for their displacement from their home in Mogadishu.
Some of the demonstrators said that they plan to return to their homes now since Mohamed Dhere is no longer the city’s Mayor.
It is noteworthy that in the past demonstrations were held in support of people appointed to positions. This may be the first time people are demonstrating in support of someone being removed from a position.
