A group of Somali parliamentarians in Nairobi and Mogadishu are said to be busy preparing a motion of no confidence against President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.

The  proponents of this motion reportedly intend to chide the President for breaking the law and interfering in the work the  Somali parliament.

MPs allied with the president  have, however, warned against this motion, terming it as illegal and not in the interest of the Somali people.

'' The motion by a section of MPs in Nairobi and Mogadishu against the President Sheikh Sharif is  not in any way good for the Somali people and they should stop it '', said MP Farah Hirsi Abdulle (Awooley) in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

The MP said that it was not the right time for a motion against the President as the term of the Transitional Federal Government( TFG)  is coming to an end and it is in the middle of completing the remaining work of its mandate before August  of this year.

The motion is said to be the work of MPs allied with the speaker of Somali parliament, Sharif Hassan  Sheikh Aden, whose constitutional dispute with the president recently came to light.

This comes at a time President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Hassan has declared  his candidacy  for the upcoming Somali presidential election to be held  later  this year when the term of the current TFG government comes to an end.
